The capital of Tamil Nadu in India is famous for many things, but not for its nightlife. A city’s night life improves the mixed use experience and provides a natural safety over its streets. Various unlawful activities thrive when the sun sets; many new night initiatives can eliminate these threats and make a city safe.
1. Kathipara Urban Square
Kathipara flyover is a famous landmark in the city which connects the airport to the heart of the city. This creates huge traffic above the flyover, but the dead underbelly of the structure remained dark and unsafe. A 24x7 food street gave the structure a new purpose and a haven for travellers to dine and cherish the city. A platform created next to the road for the stalls and seatings. Tensile roofing above our head in white gives a calm vibe with the dominant Kathipara flyover and the metro flyover painting the sky. Many food outlets are there for us to enjoy during the day and deep into the night.
2. Kora Food Street
Shipping containers
are not just to be in the ports but can be designed and placed to serve food as
well.
Kora food street is one of the best
example for container design. The vibe inside this food street is what you get
when you travel abroad to a South East Asian street to have food. They have
many varieties of food outlets here. The crowd here even during the weeknight
is astonishing.
3. Kosmo cafe
This one in the list is a great example of social media marketing. TTK road
Alwarpet was famous for the De monte colony, a haunted night adventure spot for
many youths in Chennai. But marking a new night hangout spot right in Alwarpet
is this small cafe called as Kosmo. The dark green sign board matches well with
the night, highlighting the KOSMO in gold. This place is not a street or a
square but a small cafe competing well in attracting the crowd. They are famous
for their iced milo, lotus biscoff shake and many milkshakes.
