In such a great historic and holy temple city
stands a mud house, standing alone in its environment but well intact with the
nature; with our earth. The mud coloured exterior calms the surrounding with
just the compound wall painted in white, bright; gives an illusion as a big
platform holding the mud paradise above. The sloped terracotta roof mimics the
mountain’s shape and makes nearby flat-roofed buildings jealous.
They
separated spaces inside the house with levels which create an enormous impact on
the overall experience. North-East end of the plot holds a pond, and the same
happens interior with a sunken living area. Ground floor hosts the area for
kitchen, dining and a bedroom. This bedroom falls on the west facing side of
the plot. Remember, the harsh reality of our star is intense on this side. But
the architect comes up with a solution of stopping the mighty rays with
terracotta tiles. This functionally helps to cut the heat down and also
aesthetically plays well with the lime finished interior walls.
Don’t clap your hands yet. There is more to describe about this beautiful
sustainable mud home. As soon as you walk in, your feet would rush to thank you
for walking on this kota stoned flooring. The softness of the stone is truly
amazing.
But how are you going to reach the top floor? Don’t sweat it out. As soon as you enter, the dominant part about this house is the one which connects the ground floor to the first and that’s the stairway. But you can’t hold on to anything while walking up as steel rods replace the railings.
Sudden splash of bright yellow makes you wonder where you have teleported to. Then you realise the oxide finished flooring elevates the show for you. Warm interior lightings are a cherry on the cake.
The amount of natural ventilation that flows through the house is incredible. The view from the study almost invites the hill from the backdrop for a tea.
Two other bedrooms on this floor play well with lime finished wall following the theme of the house. Balcony spaces in both the rooms are too much to ask for, but it balances the exterior with the interior.
