The Polarizing Presence: Dhoni Fans vs. Dhoni Haters in the IPL

The online community has become toxic, and this toxicity is spreading from all the hidden fake accounts; especially during this IPL Season.

Technology and hatred

2024; we are deep into this technology as mobile phones have become part of our bodies. Waking up, checking social media, creating content, and consuming content are all part of our lifestyle now. But the toxic environment here is sometimes too much to bear as a human; still, some of us have a bit of humanity left within us to tolerate what’s going around.

Hate among fans

Every year since 2008, IPL has consumed two crucial months of our summer; become the talk of the country; a celebration for fans and sports enthusiasts. But these Toxic fans and online abusers are growing comfortably as every season passes by. There is always a new update in technology not only in the game but also within us; our devices, our internet speed, how we can hide our face and spread hatred in a community; all these are improving for good and bad.

We must improve, develop, and appreciate the tech being used for development, education, and growth, but what are we doing with all the hate and negativity that is spreading to millions with no consequences?

Hate against love

Dhoni fans celebrate his last season by cherishing his entry into the stadium while the hatred by other fans is brewing. This season is just for his presence and not for his performance; fans have seen so many great knocks by our skip; we just need to see him, cherish, and celebrate his legacy for one last time. Just a few sixes or even a single-digit score is enough for us to celebrate the G.O.A.T.

His presence of mind, captaincy skills, governing the game, and winning crucial matches over the last 16 years got him such a great number of fans; people adore him; not just spectators, but the opponents and other team players cherish this man as well.

But the hatred is strong from other fans; trying to bring down a player who sacrificed so much for the nation; bringing in a great many international trophies for the country. While the entire world is celebrating a person like Dhoni, our own people, born a few years later failing to witness him in his prime, are abusing and trolling a legend. The saddest part is that these young lads and fake accounts have zero clue what real cricket and sportsmanship are. A loyal fan of a cricketer will never bring the other cricketer down. Kohli and Rohit are as important to the nation and valued by true cricket fans all around the world; true Dhoni fans always respect and adore them for what they’ve done for the country.

All genuine fans please respect the sport; don’t fall into this online trap; hatred is brewing everywhere. Let us all unite for our country support good cricket everywhere and respect all the legends and their contribution to our country and the game.
